Wolfskehl
Wolfskehl is the name of a German family with a Jewish tradition who lived in Darmstadt from the 18th to the 20th centuries . When the Jews were prescribed an unchangeable family name in 1808, the family named themselves Wolfskehlen in the Hessian Ried after their place of origin . People in this family are:
- Eduard Wolfskehl (1874–1943), government architect
- Heyum Wolfskehl (1776–1866), court banker under Grand Duke Ludwig I and Ludwig III. , Founder of the banking house Heyum Wolfskehl and Sons
- Joseph Carl Theodor Wolfskehl (1814–1863), Darmstadt banker
- Otto Wolfskehl (1841–1907), Darmstadt banker and city councilor, long-time member of the state parliament and vice-president of the second chamber of the Hessian state parliament, founder of the building association for workers' housing, founder of the Hessian state mortgage bank, chairman of the Jewish community
- Otto Wolfskehl (Junior) (1920–1987), German physicist
- Karl Wolfskehl (1869–1948), writer and translator
- Paul Wolfskehl (1856–1906), mathematician and testamentary founder of the Wolfskehl Prize .
The Wolfskehl'sche Park in Darmstadt-Bessungen and a street near the Rosenhöhe are named after the family.
