Cloud gates

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cloud gate is an elaborately produced stage poster in the theater . For this purpose, lengths of fabric are gathered and sewn "like a cloud". Normally white tulle or voile is used, but there are also special designs made from other fabrics.

Cloud blinds are generally used as decorative elements or final hangers on the stage, often - especially in operettas - as vertically movable courtines . The lifting ropes attached below are passed through sewn rings.

For many years this imposing stage display was the standard of equipment in variety shows , music shows, opera and operetta galas, mostly in combination with impressive chandeliers . Today the cloud gate is hardly used in theaters.

The classic cloud curtain made of tulle or voile is an often used window decoration for interior designers and interior decorators.
