Wollan Island

Wollan Iceland is a dome-shaped and snow-covered island with striking rock outcroppings on the northwest side before the Loubet coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . In Crystal Sound , it is 1.5 km north of Davidson Island .

The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out from 1958 to 1959 was used to map it. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the island on September 23, 1960 after the US physicist Ernest Omar Wollan (1902-1984), who studied the structure of ice using neutron scattering .
