Davidson Island

Davidson Island is a small, domed and snow-covered island off the Loubet coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . In Crystal Sound , it is between Wollan Island and Shull Rocks .

Aerial photographs of the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) and the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1958-1959) as well as surveys carried out by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 1958 to 1959 were used to map them. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the island on September 23, 1960 after the US physicist William L. Davidson, who developed a method using neutron scattering to determine the position of hydrogen atoms in the ice .
