Wolter von Wylre (* around 1487 in Aachen ; † 1529 there ) was a German lay judge and mayor of the imperial city of Aachen .

Live and act

Wolter von Wylre was the son of the former mayor Wilhelm von Wylre and his second wife Eva Holtzappel. He followed his father into the lay judge's chair and was also elected lay judge of the Sendgericht in 1527 . In addition, he was three times in the "Great Council", which was responsible for general affairs, judged on life and death and elected the new council members, and twice in the "Small Council" of the city of Aachen, which deals with the city - and state sovereignty and formed the higher and appellate court. Finally, in 1528, he was elected mayor of Aachen, together with Arnold Wymer, the mayor from the ranks of the guilds. Furthermore von Wylre took over the honorary office of the "Christoffels" (envoy of the Aachen counties) of the Wirichbongard county several times.

Wolter von Wylre was married to Margarethe von Lieck, who bore him three children, of which nothing is known. He owned several houses in the city center and was a feudal lord on Gut Reinartzkehl at the foot of the Vaalserberg and on a fiefdom in Kornelimünster . In 1529 he fell ill with English sweat , from which he died a few weeks later. His widow inherited Gut Reinartzkehl and remarried. His brother Diederich followed him into the jury and his son Wilhelm von Wylre became the next mayor of the family.
