Wilhelm von Wylre (politician, before 1470)

Wilhelm von Wylre (* before 1470 in Aachen ; † 1508 there ) was a German lay judge and mayor of the imperial city of Aachen .

According to Macco, Wilhelm von Wylre's parental assignment is not clear and he was either the son of Wilhelm or Johann von Wylre, both sons of the former mayor Gerhard von Wylre . In the 1470s he became a member of the Star Guild, the association of Aachen lay judges, and on September 15, 1471, was referred to as their Greve . In 1476 at the latest he was elected to the jury chair and as their representative in 1498/99 (with Johann Pastor as mayor from the ranks of the guilds), 1501/02 (with Peter Wolff) and 1506/07 (with Adam Munten) Mayor of the city of Aachen. In addition, he was a secular lay judge on the Sendgericht .

Wilhelm von Wylre was first married to Agnes Joris, the widow of the Daem von Soerse. In 1487 he married Eva Holtzappel, who bore him at least four children. His sons Simon (1491–1568), Wolter (1495–1529) and, after his death, Diederich von Wylre (1498–1564) followed him on the lay judge's chair, with Wolter becoming the next mayor of the family. Wilhelm von Wylre owned several houses in the city center and he was one of several feudal men of the Electorate of Cologne feudal court in Valkenburg aan de Geul . In addition, in 1497 he acquired a long lease on the Reinartzkehl estate at the foot of the Vaalserberg , which his son Wolter took over as a fief after the death of his father. Wilhelm's son Simon was enfeoffed with Kasteel Terworm near Heerlen in 1552 , which remained in the family's possession until 1738.
