The Worcester Plaza , also Shawmut Bank Tower , formerly Worcester County National Bank , is together with the Sky Mark Tower the tallest building in Worcester in the US state of Massachusetts. It's at 446 Main Street in Downtown Worcester. It was designed by the architectural firm Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo & Associates and was completed in 1974 and opened a year later. It is 88 meters (289 ft ) tall and has 24 floors providing a total of 22,700 m² (244,000 sqf ) of commercial office space. The facade is completely glazed, as is often the case with taller and more modern buildings.

Original plans included a different building with a different design under the same name. This building was to be built iconically as the city's landmark and Downtown Worcester, along with the City Hall, was to form the visual center of the city. It was announced in 1969. According to the designs, a 212 meter (696 ft) tall, 50 story, slender tower with horizontal window columns and a top converging to form a crown would be built. Given the location of the property, which is 148 meters (485 ft) above sea level, it would have been the tallest commercial building in the New England area at the time.
