Word Cup

Word Cup is a German hip-hop and lifestyle magazine that presents national and international artists from the hip-hop scene as an online and TV format. In addition to interviews, videos and concert recordings, Word Cup also shows reports on sports events and from the fashion scene.

In addition, Word Cup is dedicated to promoting young talent and regularly presents the newcomers to the hip-hop scene. The show is produced by the Rich Media Online Publishing Platform Hobnox (Berlin). The three presenters Jasmin Shakeri, Tyron Ricketts and Selcuk Erdogan report from the hip-hop world on their music channel Sly-Fi. Behind the scenes, Ndilyo Niminde works on the topics as an editor.

Word Cup was broadcast as a TV format on VIVA from March 1996 to June 1999 , and from September 2001 to December 2002 it could be heard as a radio broadcast on WDR station 1 Live . The TV format on VIVA was moderated by Tyron Ricketts , who, along with Jens “Scope” Kameke, later gave his voice to the radio show.

A relaunch took place in December 2004. Word Cup has since been seen as an online show on the Internet. In 2006 Panthertainment GmbH succeeded in placing the Word Cup on the Cologne local broadcaster Center TV. From 2007 the hip-hop magazine was broadcast nationwide by the German digital cable broadcaster iMusic TV . Since the relaunch of the Selcuk, Erdogan and Maurice Hofmann, who was already active behind the scenes for the Word Cup during the VIVA era, have been leading through the show.

From autumn 2007, Word Cup started again from Berlin under the leadership of Hobnox .
