World Class Wreckin 'Cru

The World Class Wreckin 'Cru was an American electro / hip hop band. In the 1980s you were an important part of the California hip-hop scene from which West Coast hip-hop later developed. The World Class Wreckin 'Crew was among the pioneers who combined rap with electronic music . Members were Yella , Dr. Dre , Cli-N-Tel and Michel'le . Yella and Dre became members of NWA through their acquaintance .

The group was formed when nightclub owner Lonzo (Alonzo Williams) met two local celebrities DJ Yella and Dr for his Eve After Dark club. Dre and his old high school friend Cli-N-Tel got involved. Their first singles, recorded by them in the studio belonging to the club, such as Surgery (1984) or Juice (1985) were important releases in the fusion of old school hip hop and electro , together with tracks by Egyptian Lover and LA Dream Team . In 1988, the same year that NWA's milestone Straight Outta Compton appeared, The World Class Wreckin 'Crew hit the pop charts with Turn Off the Lights .

The band members Yella and Dr. Dre began to concentrate more and more on the work in NWA. Together with Ice Cube they wrote the single Boyz N The Hood for Eazy-E ’s new label Ruthless Records . After the intended interpreters HBO didn't want it, they founded the NWA together with Eazy-E. The last LP, Phases in Life from 1990 was almost a solo release by Lonzo. The other three band members were hardly involved in the production.
