WISE 2012, panel discussion at the Qatar National Convention Center

The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) is an annual education summit hosted by the Qatar Foundation in the Emirate of Qatar . The aim is to promote innovative education and science projects. Since it was founded in 2009, more than 1,000 experts from different countries have met annually to exchange ideas about innovations in the educational sector.

The WISE Prize for Education

The WISE Prize for Education was first awarded in December 2010 for 2011 at the WISE Summit in Doha. It is the first international award in the field of education and honors people and teams for outstanding educational achievements. The award is endowed with US $ 500,000 and a gold medal.

• 2011 Fazle Hasan Abed , Bangladesh, for the establishment of the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee
• 2012 Madhav Chavan , India, co-founder and CEO of Pratham , an educational project in India
• 2013 Vicky Colbert , founder of the Fundación Escuela Nueva in Colombia
• 2014 Ann Cotton , founder of Camfed
• 2015 Sakena Yacoobi , founder of the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL)
• 2017 Patrick Awuah , founder of Ashesi University College in Ghana
• 2019 Larry Rosenstock , founder of High Tech High , USA

The initiative is supported by a network of six international partners: Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Institute of International Education (IIE), International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), RAND Corporation and UNESCO .
