The Qatar Foundation ( Arabic مؤسسة قطر, DMG Muʾassasat Qaṭar ) is a private foundation in the emirate of Qatar . It was founded in 1995 by Sheikh Hamad bin Chalifa Al Thani and his second wife Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned . Since then, Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned has chaired the foundation. The Qatar Foundation supports education and science projects, such as the Education City campus near Doha , where various universities - including six US universities have branch offices there - have gathered. The funded projects also include the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) technology center, where numerous international companies have settled for research and development purposes.

On December 10, 2010, FC Barcelona announced a five-year jersey advertising sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation worth 170 million euros (paid for by Qatar Sports Investment ). Since the Qatar Foundation is also considered a financier of Hamas and has ties to Yusuf al-Qaradawi , the contract met with criticism.
