World music day

The World Music Day is a day of international of music is dedicated. It takes place every year on October 1st .

In many countries November 22nd is celebrated as International Musicians Day. In 1594, the Catholic Church proclaimed St. Cecilia's Day the Day of Music. In Spain, South America (including Argentina, Chile, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela) and many other countries, concerts in honor of the musicians take place on this day. In Germany, November 22nd is celebrated as the day of house music, especially by music schools and wind bands.

World Music Day was launched in 1975 by the International Music Council under the direction of the then IMC President Yehudi Menuhin (USA) in order to promote music in all population groups and, in accordance with the ideals of UNESCO (peace and friendship of peoples), a mutual recognition of artistic values and to promote the international exchange of experiences in the field of music. On the occasion of World Music Day, a variety of activities - especially concerts - take place.
