World Of Broker (English. World of the stock exchange traders; mostly abbreviated WOB) is a turn-based strategy game . This business simulation is a digitization and further development of the classic board and stock market game Broker (1961). It has been available as a browser game since 2012.

The programming of the beta version began in 2008 by a business administration student at the Humboldt University in Berlin . The aim was a seminar-capable simulation to visualize the idea of ​​diversification and to thematize the portfolio theory founded by Harry Max Markowitz . In 2012, with the further development of the software, World Of Broker and its browser version were born. This enabled nationwide use at other universities as well. Today World Of Broker is a nationwide teaching project at the Federal Association of Stock Exchange Associations at German Universities .

Game content

World Of Broker is a stock market game and business simulation . The participants can trade different stocks with a fictitious starting capital . By posting information, the courses are changed immediately by the players. With various additional functions, such as a. Stock split , option (economy) and capital increase , in-depth financial instruments can be simulated. The game is played alternately 10 rounds. The winner is the player / team who has the most valuable deposit in the end.

Competitions and events

This project, initially called Das Börsenspiel 2.0, became an integral part of the program of events at Berliner Börsenkreis eV in 2010. In 2011, the Berliner Börsenkreis eV organized a regional stock market game championship for the first time. In addition, the 6 best participants from the previous events were able to play for the championship title in a final. Today every club in the BVH can determine its regional stock exchange master once a year and nominate a participant for the German BVH stock exchange championship.
