from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

World and Press is a language newspaper designed for teaching English and has been published by Schünemann Verlag in Bremen since 1949 (previously by Eilers and Schünemann Verlag). It contains original articles from English-language newspapers mainly from the USA and Great Britain , but also from other English-speaking regions of the world with contributions from politics, business, society, culture, the environment, technology and leisure. The World and Press appears twice a month.

Each text is provided with a detailed English-German vocabulary to enable the learners to read it without using the dictionary. In addition to the newspaper, there are worksheets, sample exams and additional materials for selected articles on the Internet, which can be downloaded from the publisher's website ( online service ). In addition, articles on specific key topics are bundled as so-called “ specials ” that can be used to design complete teaching units.

An audio CD and audio mp3 files are also published for each issue of World and Press . Selected articles from the language newspaper are presented by native speakers in order to train listening comprehension.

In addition to the World and Press , the Carl Ed. Schünemann Verlag also publishes six other language newspapers: Business World and Press (Business English, since 2012), Read On ( easy English for less advanced learners), Revue de la Presse (French), Revista de la Prensa (Spanish) , the Leggere l'Italia (Italian) and the press and language (German as a foreign language).
