Worsley Beach

The Worsley Beach is a beach on the north coast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It is located south of Hodson Point on the east bank of Fortuna Bay and is used for landing.

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2013. It is named after Frank Worsley (1872–1943), captain of the Endurance on the Endurance expedition (1914–1917), who led the expedition leader Ernest Shackleton in 1916 on the rescue voyage with the James Caird from Elephant Iceland to South Georgia and on the first crossing of South Georgia from King Haakon Bay to Stromness .
