Wrottesley is an impact crater to the east of the lunar front , on the southeastern edge of Mare Fecunditatis , immediately west of the Petavius crater , the edge of which it touches. The crater is moderately eroded and has pronounced terracing and a central mountain .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British astronomer John Wrottesley, 2nd Baron Wrottesley .
