Throw bags

Throw bags for throw lines

A throw bag is a closed bag made of solid fabric , preferably Perlon , also canvas or leather , which is filled with lead shot or sand. The weight typically varies from 100 to 200 grams, but it can also be significantly higher.

At least one end has a loop or ring to which a leash ( throw line ) can be attached. With the help of the throw bag, the line can be lowered from a height or thrown or thrown over a distance or an obstacle (using a throw bag thrower).

Throw bags should be soft and malleable so that personal injury and property damage are avoided if they hit.

Typical applications are:

  • Tree work with climbing technology ( SKT ). A climbing rope is pulled with a thin throw line.
  • With the thin line, a hawser can be deployed to moor a ship. A monkey fist can be used here instead of a throwing bag .
  • The thin line can be easily lowered to pull up auxiliary items - for example a lifeline
