Wurzelbauer is an impact crater in the southwest of the front of the moon , south of Mare Nubium , southwest of Pitatus crater and southeast of Weiss . The crater is very badly eroded and the rim of the crater has almost completely disappeared, so that only an extensive depression is visible.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German astronomer Johann Philipp von Wurzelbau .
