Coordinates: 31 ° 10 ′ S , 117 ° 23 ′ E The Shire of Wyalkatchem is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 1595 km² and has about 500 inhabitants ("016).
Wyalkatchem is located in the western Australian "wheat belt" in the center of the state about 170 kilometers northeast of the capital Perth . The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the village of Wyalkatchem, where about 300 residents live (2016).

The Wyalkatchem Council has seven members. They are elected by all residents of the LGA. Wyalkatchem is not divided into districts. The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
