The Bernice Steinbaum Gallery marks the northern entrance to Midtown's Wynwood Art District between Miami Avenue and North 36th Street .

The Wynwood Art District is an area in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami , Florida , USA . It is home to over 70 galleries, museums, and collections. The neighborhood is roughly bounded by North 36th Street ( US Highway 27 ; north), North 20th Street (south), Interstate 95 (west), and Northeast First Avenue (east).

history

The Wynwood Art District Association was founded in early 2003 by a group of art dealers, artists and curators led by Mark Coetzee and Nick Cindric . Mark Coetzee initiated the idea after a similar project, Art Night, which he had carried out in his hometown Cape Town , South Africa . Founding members at the first meeting in the Rocket Projects media room were Brook Dorsch from Dorsch Gallery , Charles Weston, Cooper and Elizabeth Withstandley from Locust Projects , Mark Coetzee from the Rubell Collection , Nick Cindric from Rocket Projects , Bernice Steinbaum from Bernice Steinbaum Gallery and Marina Kessler from the Marina Kessler Gallery . The association publishes an annual brochure with a map and a list of the association's members.

The Wynwood Art District is home to over seventy galleries, five museums, three collections, seven art complexes, twelve studios and five art fairs. Every second Saturday of the month, the community takes a public walk through the neighborhood. The following galleries, studios, alternative rooms and showrooms for art, music and refreshments will be presented to the public on this open day:

The Wynwood Art District is an established destination for the international and affluent art scene. It's a cosmopolitan hub with a huge influx of people from all over the world, especially during the winter months (October through May).
