The Wyoming Infrared Observatory (short: WIRO ) is an observatory of the University of Wyoming for infrared astronomy . The main instrument is a reflecting telescope with a diameter of 2.3 meters . The observatory is located 40 km southwest of Laramie on the summit of "Jelm" at an altitude of 2948 m.

In its primary focus, the telescope has a 4-element Wynne corrector and a 2k × 2k EMCCD image sensor, with which an image angle of 0.3 ° is achieved. It also has a 2D and a slit spectrometer .
