Wytze Foppes
Wytze Foppes Dongjuma (born September 16, 1707 in Dongjum , Franekeradeel , Friesland ; † February 8, 1778 in Leeuwarden ) was a Frisian arithmetic master and instrument maker.
He started his career as a carpenter. In the middle of the century he settled in Leeuwarden as a teacher of arithmetic in instrument making. He produced microscopes, telescopes and scientific instruments.
He discussed possible catastrophic effects of the comet of 1756 and observed the Venus transit of 1761 and 1769. In 1756 he published wonder works of nature .
