XDev (also spelled XDEV ) was the television computer magazine of the XDev Software Corporation in cooperation with GIGA Digital Television GmbH .

By Christiane Imdahl moderated and Markus Stiegler session was run on Fridays at 20:00 on GIGA . A total of only four episodes were produced, which were repeated until the format was discontinued.

history

When the evening program (" Prime Time ") of the television station GIGA was to be redesigned in March 2007, the first program plans on Fridays at 8:00 pm contained a format called XDev - The Software Magazine . As it became known shortly before the changes came into force, the format had not yet overcome the planning phase at that time. For the time being, Much Adrenaline was broadcast on the planned slot , which was later replaced by anime series and reruns from the film magazine SCREEN .

In September 2007, the XDev Software Corporation announced on its homepage that XDev TV should start in November 2007. Soon afterwards the website xdev.tv went online with an initial list of topics , which, however, turned out to be exemplary.

Until the start of broadcasting, GIGA gradually published more information, for example about the moderators. The broadcast time was unclear until the very end: While it was originally planned to be 8:00 p.m., the program schedule named 9:00 p.m. as the time of broadcast of XDev TV . In fact, the format ran until the start of the new program Telespiel on November 23, 2007 at 9:00 p.m., after which the program was broadcast at 8:00 p.m.

After the production and broadcast of four episodes in November 2007, these were broadcast several times again until February 2008 instead of new programs; GIGA or XDEV Software did not comment on this. At the beginning of March, the format finally disappeared from GIGA's program. Reasons for the termination are not known.

construction

Moderator Christiane Imdahl

Each issue focused on a topic from the software world, which Christiane Imdahl and co-moderator Markus Stiegler from XDEV Software presented. Various solutions were presented and guests were invited. In addition, news from computer technology was presented. They also wanted to work with various specialist journals (see also subsection dissemination ), which was only actually the case in the first issue.

Studio

XDev was produced in the same studio as most of the other formats in the GIGA evening program. This is decorated differently depending on the program: At XDev there was a high table with a computer in the left part , and a seating area was attached to the right. The background was a brick-look wall to which four plasma screens were attached.

distribution

In addition to being broadcast on GIGA, an issue of XDev TV appeared in February 2008 on the magazine CDs or DVDs of the specialist magazines CHIP and PC-Welt . In addition, it was originally announced that XDev would also be broadcast by some regional TV channels, which apparently was not the case.
