Xavier Trias i Vidal de Llobatera [ ʃəβiˈe ˈtɾiəs ] (* 1946 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish politician and member of the liberal-conservative party Convergència i Unió (CiU). He was the mayor of Barcelona.

Trias is a trained pediatrician and was minister of health in the Catalan regional government ( Generalitat de Catalunya ) under Jordi Pujol and spokesman for the CiU in the Congreso de los Diputados .

After his victory in the local elections in Barcelona in 2011 , Trias became mayor of the city on July 2, 2011.

In the local elections in May 2015, he and his party were defeated by the activist platform Barcelona en Comú with their top candidate Ada Colau , who was elected the city's next mayor in the same year, replacing Trias.

His name appeared in connection with the so-called Paradise Papers .
