Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard FC (Chinese: 新疆 天山 雪豹; Pinyin: Xīnjiāng Tiānshān Xuěbào) is a professional Chinese football club currently participating in China League One under license from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). The team is based in Ürümqi ( Xinjiang ) and its home stadium is the Xinjiang Sports Center with a capacity of 50,000. Its current majority shareholder is Shenzhen China-Kyle Special Steel , a steel company.

history

Hubei China-Kyle was founded in December 2011 by China-Kyle Special Steel Co., Ltd. Li Jianzhong became the first chairman and Li Jun became the first trainer . With the help of the Hubei Football Association, they formed a team and registered to play in the 2012 third division (League Two) of the Chinese football league system. Their home stadium was Huangshi Stadium and blue were the club's home colors. In their debut season, they finished fourth in the Southern Division, reaching the play-offs, where, after defeating Hebei Zhongji and Shenzhen Fengpeng , they were runner-up behind Guizhou Zhicheng FC. Within the division, however, this position was enough for promotion to the second-rate League One.

On their first appearance in the second division, the club struggled with the higher financial resources and professionalism of the new division. Before the start of the season, the team could not afford the necessary tickets for the training camp in Dongguan ( Guangdong ) and had to take the bus there. Despite financial difficulties, Li Jun's team avoided relegation on the last day of the season when they beat Chengdu Tiancheng FC 2-0. At the start of the 2014 league season, the club publicly stated that they were looking for investors and that they were ready to leave Hubei Province in order to receive them. This brought with it speculation that the club would move to Xi'an , but negotiations between the city and the club failed. The Xinjiang Autonomous Region Sports Bureau then announced an interest in investing in the club. On February 14, 2014, the Xinjiang Autonomous Region Sports Bureau took over the club by providing the Xinjiang Sports Center, training facilities, and sponsorship. Hubei China-Kyle moved to Urumqi, and changed his name to Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard.
