Xorret de Catí

Xorret de Catí is a mountain area in the hinterland of the Costa Blanca in the Spanish province of Alicante . It is located in the municipality of Castalla , between the towns of Castalla and Petrer, at an altitude of 1100 meters.

The area is located in the Sierra del Fraile, the highest point of which is 1261 meters above sea level. Sometimes it is also called Sierra de Catí. The Xorret de Catí area is north of the Sierra del Cid and west of the Sierra del Maigmó. It can be reached from Petrer or Castalla.

Surname

The Catalan word Xorret stands for water jet and refers to a source of the Rambla del Puça or the Rambla de los Molinos, which rises in this area.

Cycling

The climb to the Xorret from Castalla is known as a frequent, difficult stage during the Vuelta a España cycle tour . It is four kilometers long with a difference in altitude of 437 meters and gradients of up to 22 percent.
