Yūji Yamanaka ( Japanese 山 中 勇 二 , Yamanaka Yūji ; born June 26, 1937 in Aomori Prefecture ) is a former Japanese biathlete .
Yūji Yamanaka was employed by the armed forces of the country during his active time as well as a large part of the Japanese biathletes after him and also competed for them internationally. His greatest international success was his participation in the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck . Together with his compatriot Yoshio Ninomine , he represented Japan for the first time in a biathlon competition at the Olympic Games and, with an average running time and only two shooting errors, was 19th and thus the best Asian in the competition.
