The Yaba-Hita-Hikosan Quasi-National Park ( Japanese 耶馬 日 田英彦 山 国 定 公園 , Yaba-Hita-Hikosan Kokutei Kōen ) is a quasi-national park in the north of Kyushu , the third largest island of Japan . The park, founded on July 29, 1950, covers an area of 850.24 km² and extends over the prefectures of Fukuoka , Kumamoto and Ōita , which are therefore responsible for the management of the park. With the IUCN Category V, the park area is classified as a Protected Landscape / Protected Marine Area .
