Yagyu Ninpo Cho: The Revenge of the Hori Clan ( Japanese Y 十 M ~ 柳生 忍 法帖 ~ , Y jū M - Yagyū Ninpō Jō ) is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Masaki Segawa based on the novel Yagyū Nimpōchō by the writer Futaro Yamada . Segawa had previously successfully implemented a work by Yamada in comic form with Basilisk . The ninja manga, which has been published since 2005, has around 2,000 pages to date and is aimed primarily at an adult, male readership, so it can be assigned to his genre.

In Japan, at the time of the Tokugawa Shogunate, the prince ( daimyō ) of Aizu , Akinari Katō , ruled his country with a cruel hand.

Due to increasing crime and corruption, Mondo Hori instigates a rebellion. This fails, whereupon he and his followers flee. Three years later, Kato tracks down the men in a monastery and has them captured using the "Seven Spears", ninjas with special fighting skills. The women of the Hori clan are also tracked down. You are hiding in a women's convent that men are not allowed to enter. The "Seven Spears" ignore this law and invade the monastery. There they perpetrate a cruel slaughter among the women of the Hori clan, which is only stopped when Princess Sen, the sister of the current shogun , arrives. Only seven women survive the massacre, including Chie, the daughter of clan chief Mondo Hori.

Angry about the murders of the women, Princess Sen hires the fighter Jubee Mitsuyoshi , who is supposed to teach the women how to fight so that they can take revenge on the "Seven Spears".

Publications

Yagyu Ninpo Cho: Revenge of the Hori Clan appear in Japan since April 2005 in separate chapters in manga magazine Young Magazine in which, among other things ××× HOLiC of CLAMP is published. The Kōdansha publishing house also publishes these individual chapters in anthologies, ten of which have been published so far.

The Heyne Verlag published the first four anthologies from April 2007 to February 2008 in Germany. The publication was discontinued due to unsatisfactory sales. In South Korea, Yagyu Ninpo Cho: The Revenge of the Hori Clan has been published by Bookbox since August 2006 . Del Rey has been bringing out the series in North America since October 2007 under the title The Yagyu Ninja Scrolls .
