action
Japan in the feudal Edo period of the Tokugawa Shogunate . The tyrannical prince of Aizu , Akinari Katō , is obsessed with sex and power and does not tolerate disobedience or criticism. The despot uses his privileged position to satisfy his own desires and punishes any violation of his commandments immediately with death. One day the prince falls in love with the attractive daughter of an indomitable subject of the Horii clan, who, however, refuses to surrender the chosen beauty, defies the prince's will and, together with his family, flees from his henchmen. The head of the clan and his relatives find a safe refuge in an unspecified place that also houses a venerable Catholic women's monastery , which men are not allowed to enter.
The angry ruler then sends a seven-member gang of demons, called "Seven Umbrellas", to find the beautiful woman he is looking for. The ninjas , equipped with a wide variety of superpowers, finally track down those wanted in the monastery, ignoring the law that only allows women to enter, and causing a real bloodbath among the Konvikt residents. Many innocent nuns find such a cruel death when all of a sudden, with the appearance of Princess Sen, all fighting comes to an abrupt halt. The presence of the powerful nobles confuses the unscrupulous aggressors; the villains eventually pull away. Only a few women survive the massacre, including Ochei, the daughter of the murdered head of the clan and the beauty that Kato claims for herself. The magical princess Sen swears bloody vengeance.
From seven surviving nuns, members of the legendary ninja clan of the Horii, the angry noblewoman forms a quick-witted troop for a bloody campaign of revenge against the overpowering "Seven Umbrellas". She is supported in this by a high-ranking monk along with the one-eyed samurai Jūbei, who teaches the women in combat and trains them to be Kunoichi . From now on, the avengers who have magical powers, together with their tricky teacher, who hides under a Hannja mask, fight the murderers and the instinctual shogun. Little by little, the thrown together team succeeds in confronting the ruler's henchmen and killing three, while the other bodyguards manage to escape to Aizu with the shogun. In the open end, however, the armed conflicts also lead to losses among the avengers, so that only five of them continue the hunt for the murderers of their families.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films believes that the film is irritating “because of its stereotypical design” and “ tells the story of the fight between women and men according to the same pattern” . The film magazine TV Spielfilm writes in its online edition that the film contains "crazy splatter and make-up effects" and is "a strange fantasy spectacle that is worth seeing even without extras."
