Yahoo! Query Language

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yahoo! Query Language ( YQL ) is a SQL -like query language created by Yahoo as part of its developer network . YQL is designed to access and manipulate data from APIs via a simple web interface, which enables mashups through which developers can develop their own applications.

The program was launched in October 2008 with access to Yahoo APIs, and in February 2009, third-party open data tables such as Google Reader , Guardian , and The New York Times were added. Some of these APIs still require an API key to access. On April 29, 2009, Yahoo introduced the possibility of executing data queries through YQL free of charge on the company servers using JavaScript .
