Live and act
As an artist he has had exhibitions of his pictures and caricatures in Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels and Montreal. He made many trips to India, Egypt, Nepal, Kenya and the former USSR. His humorous drawings can be found at Fluide Glacial and in the Almanach Vermot .
In total, he published more than 50 novels and short stories, in which he became known in the German-speaking world, primarily through his children's stories. As with his friend Pierre Gripari and his Contes de la Rue Broca and Contes de la Folie Mericourt , these are also stories of witches and fantastic tales from a certain Parisian street district with Rivais. In his Contes de la Rue de Bretagne he writes about witches, ghosts, goblins, little devils and other fairy tale characters and also uses word games.
The Nürnberger Nachrichten wrote about his first German-language children's book “Fiffi und die Hexe”: “A simple story like in real life, accurately pointed, funny and sad, a pleasure to read.”
Rivais is head of the children's book department at the French publisher Belfond.
