The Yakutsk Airport ( Russian Аэропорт Якутск ) is the international airport of Yakutsk in Russia . It is located north of the city center at an altitude of 99 meters. It serves as a hub for Yakutia Airlines, among others . The airport has two runways, one of which is closed and which does not have an instrument landing system. Flight operations take place 24 hours a day. It was opened in 1931 and was a stopover during the Second World War for the American fighter planes, which were delivered to the Soviet Union under the Lending and Lease Act , on their way to the Eastern European front.

The Yakutsk Airport is served by international and domestic destinations from. The largest and most important destinations include Moscow, St. Petersburg, Simferopol, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Vladivostok. Most of the connections are mainly to Russia. There are no direct flights to Yakutsk from Germany. The largest airlines there include Yakutia Airlines , S7 Airlines , Transaero Airlines , Ural Airlines , and Vladivostok Air .

Incidents

  • On February 4, 2010, the left engine of an Antonov An-24 failed during take-off. During the aborted take-off, the aircraft's fuselage hit the ground. The plane was originally supposed to fly to Olyokminsk . Nobody was injured in this incident.
  • On October 10, 2018, a Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft rolled over the runway after landing. The cause was a broken landing gear. Nobody was injured in the incident.
