KK Yaskawa Denki ( Japanese 株式会社 安川 電機 , Kabushiki kaisha Yasukawa Denki , English Yaskawa Electric Corporation ) is a Japanese company which, together with Fanuc, is a global leader in industrial robots . Yaskawa is also considered to be the creator of the term mechatronics , which the company registered as a trademark in 1971 . The Motoman robots have been sold since 1977 .

In the 2015 financial year, 64% of sales were generated abroad. The company's stock is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on the Nikkei 225 .

The company headquarters in Kitakyushu was designed by the Czech-American architect Antonin Raymond .
