Antonin Raymond (born May 10, 1888 in Kladno as Antonín Reimann, † November 21, 1976 in Langhorne , Pennsylvania) was a Czech-American architect. With the British architect Josiah Conder , Raymond is considered one of the fathers of modern architecture in Japan .

From 1906 Raymond studied at the Polytechnic Institute in Prague with Josef Schultz and Jan Koula. He graduated from Trieste in 1910 and then went to New York City .

In 1916 he took American citizenship . When Raymond was Honorary Consul for the Czechoslovak Republic from 1926 to 1939 , as representative of the government of TG Masaryk , this gave him influence beyond the circles that would normally be accessible to an architect of his age. From 1928 to 1930, Raymond designed and modified the American, Soviet and French embassy buildings. For the oil company Rising Sun he designed seventeen earthquake-proof and fire-proof buildings for employees, all in the style of international modernism .
