Yavuz Köse

Yavuz Köse (* 1971 in Moosburg an der Isar ) is a German Turkologist .

Life

He studied history and culture of the Middle East, economics as well as market and advertising psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (2001 Magister Artium in History and Culture of the Middle East as well as Turkology, Psychology and Economics). From 2001 to 2008 he was a research assistant at the Institute for the Near and Middle East in Munich . From 2008 to 2010 he was academic advisor (a. Z.) at the Institute for the Near and Middle East at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. From 2010 to 2018 he was W3 substitute professor for Turkish Studies at the Asia-Africa Institute at the University of Hamburg . Since 2019 he has been teaching as a professor of Turkish Studies at the Institute for Oriental Studies at the University of Vienna .

His main research interests are the social, economic and consumer history of the Ottoman Empire and Turkey, the history of the environment and tourism, the history of science and the history of migration and workers.
