The Yelpa Kagyu ( Tib . : yel pa bka 'brgyud ) school is one of the so-called "eight smaller schools" of the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism ( Vajrayana ). It was founded by Yeshe Tsegpa ( ye shes brtsegs pa ; 1134–1194), a student of Phagmodrupa . He founded the Yelphug Monastery and the Tana Monastery.

The school later became part of other branches of the Kagyu tradition. Only the parent monastery Tana Gompa is still referred to as the Yelpa Kagyü monastery, although in addition to the Yelpa teachings, those of the Karma Kagyü tradition are also taught.
