Yes-R (* 2. November 1986 as Yesser Roshdy in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch rapper .
Life
Inspired by his cousin Ali B, Yes-R decided to become a rapper at the age of 13. At the age of 14 he took part in a talent competition and took second place. For two years he was a member of the hip-hop formation Ongerept (German: untouched ). After leaving the group, Yes-R began a solo career. In 2003 he met Lange Frans from D-Men Entertainment. Lange Frans became the musician's producer . The first track Chickiesflasher was an underground hit. As the winner of a McDonald’s competition, he achieved a certain level of awareness as an advertising medium for the first time. He took part in Maritza's debut single Laat je gaan .
In 2004 Yes-R won the audience award of the musicians' competition Grote Prijs van Nederland (German: "Grand Prix of the Netherlands"). He released his first single Stel je voor in March with Baas B. Yes-R only became known to a larger audience when he rapped the title Leipe Mocro Flavor together with Ali B. This song was number two in the national Top 40. In August 2005, his debut album Mijn Pad was released . From this album the three releases Fissa , Mijn Pad and Mammie appeared . Together with his cousin Ali B, Yes-R produced two successful titles in early 2006: Ghetto (number two in the charts) and Rampeneren (number four in the charts). He won a TMF Award for Best Newcomer and was nominated for both the Urban Award and the PPG2 Award .
In 2006, Yes-R made his actor debut. He played Omar, who starred in the Christmas comedy 'n Beetje Verliefd . The film won Goudne status and was seen by more than 100,000 visitors in Dutch cinemas. Yes-R also composed the movie's theme song. Yes-R's second album Zakenman was released in 2007.
