Coordinates: 31 ° 13 ′ S , 119 ° 19 ′ E The Shire of Yilgarn is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 30,720 km² and has about 1200 inhabitants (2016).
Yilgarn is located in the western Australian "wheat belt" in the southwest of the state about 340 kilometers east of the capital Perth . The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the village of Southern Cross , where about 600 residents live (2016).

The Yilgarn Council has seven members. They are elected by all residents of the LGA. Yilgarn is not divided into districts. The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
