Yim Guechse
Yim Guechse (Khmer: យឹ ម កិច្ច សែ) (born November 20, 1946 in Phnom Penh ) is a Cambodian poet and writer living in Germany .
Live and act
Guechse Yim went to the GDR in 1971 and obtained a doctorate in linguistics from the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . In 1976 he moved to West Berlin and studied librarianship at the Free University of Berlin until 1981 .
Guechse Yim writes in Khmer . Few of his poems have been translated into German. In his works he deals with (physical) love, social problems and political grievances in Cambodia , often referring to the Khmer tradition. In 1970 he published the novel " Ramayana in Dreams", and in 1982 the volume of poems "A Decade of Dreams" was published. In 1986 the socially critical novel "Adieu, Rose von Phnom Penh" followed. In 1987 the seals “Life Against the Current” and “Creeping Along Life” were relocated. In 1988 the publication of "Kolab, die Cambodschanerin" followed, and in 1990 "Divided Life" appeared. Guechse Yim is involved in the Cambodian Culture Study Group . V. From 1986 to 2003 he was co-editor of the magazine "Cambodian Culture", for which he also wrote several articles.
