Yitha'amar Bayyin II

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yitha'amar Bayyin II ( Sabaean yṯʿʾmr byn Yiṯaʿʾamar Bayyin), son and successor of Sumuhu'ali Yanuf III. was a ruler ( Mukarrib ) of the Yemeni empire Saba . Hermann von Wissmann continues his reign around 510 BC. BC, Kenneth A. Kitchen, however, around 365-350 BC. Chr. He was evidently the last important mukarrib, after Kenneth A. Kitchen even the last mukarrib of Saba.

Yitha'amar Bayyin II completed the Ma'rib dam , which his father had begun , as documented by inscriptions on the two locks. In addition, since Hermann von Wissmann it has been assumed that the inscription RES 3943 , which has only been partially preserved, also comes from Yitha'amar Bayyin II. This represents a report of deeds similar to those of Karib'il Watar I and was found in Marib . In addition to the construction of the dam and the fortification of the city of Yathill (Yemeni name: Baraqish ), this inscription mentions two campaigns. In a campaign, Yitha'amar Bayyin advanced south and defeated the Yarfath and Dahas tribes who had rebelled against Saba's ally Qataban . He then beat the rising Empire Ma'in , which is incidentally mentioned here for the first time, the Amir and to Najran based Muha'mir . Yitha'amar's successor was believed to be Karib'il IV.
