Denali Borough is 400 kilometers north of Anchorage and 180 kilometers south of Fairbanks . The borough has a total area of ​​33,086 square kilometers, of which 33,032 square kilometers are land and 64 square kilometers (0.19 percent) are water. In the borough is Denali (Mount McKinley) , which is the highest mountain in North America with 6194 meters and is located in the area of Denali National Park .

history

The borough was established on December 7, 1990. Denali comes from the Tanana language and is her name for the former Mount McKinley . The word means “the great” or “the high”.
