Lake and Peninsula Borough is a borough in Alaska , United States . 1631 people live here. The administrative seat is King Salmon , but the city is located in the neighboring Bristol Bay Borough .

The borough has an area of ​​80,049 km², which is roughly the size of Bavaria and Upper Austria put together, the population density is only about 0.03 inhabitants per square kilometer.

In the borough are the Alagnak Wild and Scenic River and the Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve as well as parts of the Katmai and Lake Clark National Parks and the National Wildlife Refuges Alaska Peninsula and Becharof .

history

The borough was established on April 24, 1989. It was named after Lake Iliamna and the Alaska Peninsula , which are part of the borough.

The Kijik Archeological District has been a National Historic Landmark since October 1994 .
