Southeast Fairbanks Census Area

The Southeast Fairbanks Census Area is a census area in the interior of the US state Alaska southeast of Fairbanks . It extends to the border with the Canadian Yukon Territory .

In 2010 the population was 7,029. Southeast Fairbanks is part of the Unorganized Borough and therefore has no administrative headquarters. The census area has an area of ​​64,908 km², of which 64,270 km² is land and 638 km² is water. The largest city in the region is Tok ; other places are Delta Junction , Northway and Chicken .

The Census Area was formed on January 1, 1964. She left the Fairbanks Census Area when the Fairbanks North Star Borough was formed.

The Eagle Historic District has been a National Historic Landmark since June 1978 .

Twelve structures and sites in the Census Area are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of April 29, 2020), including the Eagle Historic District the status of a National Historic Landmark .
