Valdez-Cordova Census Area

The Valdez-Cordova Census Area is a census area in the US state of Alaska . It stretches from Prince William Sound along the coast of the Gulf of Alaska to the border with the Canadian Yukon and includes the delta of the Copper River .

In 2010 the population was 9,636. Valdez-Cordova belongs to the Unorganized Borough and therefore has no administrative headquarters. The census area has an area of ​​104,115 km², of which 88,886 km² is land and 15,229 km² is water. The largest city in the region is Valdez .

The Kennecott Mines have been a National Historic Landmark since June 1986 .

28 structures and sites in the Census Area are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of May 1, 2020), including the Bering Expedition Landing Site , Kennecott Mines and Palugvik Archeological District have the status of National Historic Landmarks .
