Yohimbane alkaloids are natural substances of the indole alkaloid type.

Yohimbane alkaloids are in the leaves and the bark of the yohimbe before -tree.

Representative

The main alkaloid in this group is yohimbine . Many stereoisomers are derived from this, u. a. Yohimban , pseudoyohimban and alloyohimban .

properties

Yohimbine has vasodilator and hypotensive effects. It is also used against impotence and as an aphrodisiac in veterinary medicine.
