Yoshie Takeshita ( Japanese竹 下 佳 江, Takeshita Yoshie ; born March 18, 1978 in Kitakyūshū ) is a Japanese volleyball player . She took part in three Olympic Games and won the bronze medal in 2012.

Career

Takeshita started her career at Shiranuijoshi High School. In 1995 she won the Junior World Championship with the Japanese offspring. A year later she joined NEC Red Rockets . In 1997 she became Japanese champions with her club. The setter also made her debut in the Japanese national team , with whom she reached third place in the Asian Cup in 1997 and 1999 . In 2000 she won the national championship again. After the runner-up in 2002, Takeshita moved to her current club, JT Marvelous . The following year she was second in the Asian Cup with Japan. In 2004 she took part in the Olympic Games in Athens and reached fifth place with the quarter-finals. At the Asian Cup in 2005, Japan came third. The Japanese finished sixth at the 2006 World Cup in their own country. Takeshita received individual awards as the most valuable player (MVP) and best player of the tournament. In 2007 she won the Asian Cup after finishing second in the league with the national team. In 2008 she played in Beijing for the second time at the Olympic tournament and was again fifth. Japan came third at the 2009 Asian Cup and a year later at the 2010 Women's Volleyball World Cup . In 2011, Takeshita became Japanese champion again after finishing second the previous season with JT Marvelous. Japan was runner-up in Asia in the same year. In 2012, Takeshita took part in the Olympic Games in London for the third time and this time won the bronze medal.
