Yoshihiko Yoshimatsu (1952)

Yoshihiko Yoshimatsu ( Japanese 吉松 義彦 , Yoshimatsu Yoshihiko ; born November 16, 1920 ; died July 5, 1988 ) was a Japanese judoka . In 1956 he was second in the first world championships.

Yoshihiko Yoshimatsu finished third at the Japanese championships in 1948, and in 1951 he was second behind Toshiro Daigo . In 1952 he won against Tashahiko Ishikawa, in 1953 against Hideo Ito and in 1955 against Shōkichi Natsui .

On May 3, 1956, the first World Judo Championships were held in Tokyo . Yoshimatsu defeated the Filipino judoka Nicolas Arcales in his first fight , the Austrian Walter Gauhs in the second round and the Belgian Daniel Outelet in the quarterfinals . In the semifinals he met the Dutchman Anton Geesink and defeated him with a hip throw. In the final, the two Japanese Natsui and Yoshimatsu met each other and Natsui won the title.
