YOU ( English for you ) is an English-language pop song composed by Nevena Neskoska. She texted him with Kalina Neskoska and Alice Schroeder. The title, sung by Vasil Garvanliev , was supposed to be the North Macedonian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam .
Background and production
In January 2020, the North Macedonian broadcaster Makedonska Radio-Televizija announced that Vasil Garvanliev would represent the country at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Garvanliev already took part in the North Macedonian preliminary decision in 2007 and was also background singer for the Grand Prix contribution Proud .
On March 8, 2020, his related contribution called YOU was presented to the public for the first time. The music was written by Nevena Neskoska alone. She wrote the text with Kalina Neskoska and Alice Schroeder. Darko Dimitrov produced it with Lazar Cvetkovski and Javier Lloret de Muller. The ESCXtra blog praised the arrangement and drew comparisons with the title She Got Me . However, you don't manage to create a certain bond with the song. According to Eurovisionary, titles with tango influences are not often found at the ESC. Garvanliev's vocal range and his dancing skills were praised. Eurovision Union complained that the ethnic instrumentation was covered too much by the beat, but the last repetition of the chorus clearly stood out.
