You Want This is a song by the American singer Janet Jackson from her fifth album janet. (1993). The song was released as the seventh single (sixth and last in the US) from that album in October 1994. It was written and produced by Janet Jackson and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis .

The song is about Jackson's friends telling her that a man is watching her and wants to be with her.

The song samples Diana Ross & the Supremes ' song Love Child from 1968 and Kool & the Gangs song Jungle Boogie from 1973. A remix version of the song was also released with rapper MC Lyte , a disco version entitled You Want This (Disco Theory) by Dewey B and a house version called You Want This (E-Smoove's House Anthem) by E-Smoove, which appeared on the Janet Jackson album “janet. Remixed ”was released.

Janet Jackson sang the song on her janet. Tour, the Rock Witchu Tour and the Tour Number Ones: Up Close and Personal.

Music video

Keir McFarlane directed the music video. The music video was shot in August 1994 and is based on Russ Meyer's film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! from 1965. It shows Jackson and her friends watching men. Later, the friends chase the men with cars in a motel in the desert. At the end of the music video, Janet and her friends are seen dancing. A color and a black-and-white version of the music video appeared, both of which were on the janet video album in 1994 . contain. They also appeared on the video albums All for You and in 2004 on the DVD From janet. to Damita Jo: The Videos .

Charts

The song became another top ten hit for Jackson on the American Billboard Hot 100 and reached number 10. Internationally, the song reached the top 20 in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand and number 90 in Germany.
